The General Data Protection Regulation ( GDPR) ensures a consistent level of protection for natural persons throughout the EU in a manner which provides legal certainty and transparency. EU Member States are enacting legislation regulating specific processing situations and other aspects which supplement the GDPR and enhance this legal certainty. The principal data protection legislation in the EU is Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (the “General Data Protection Regulation” or “GDPR”).
